How can I get .gif or .tif to load when importing a .3ds prop?

Open the .gif or .tif files in a graphics program such as Gimp or Photoshop. Save the image as a .jpg.
Next, open the .3ds file with notepad(windows) or textedit(mac). Using the search and replace function (CTRL+F, or CMD+F) find all .gif or .tif files and then use the replace all function and replace it with .jpg.
